In order to realize the government policy of becoming carbon neutral (CN) by 2050, the Green Transformation (GX) is indispensable.
Tokyo Tech GXI was conceived to promote research activities that will lead the GX society (Initiation), strengthen startups, and substantiate industrial and social collaboration, and will be implemented as an education and research organization reform project (organization development) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2022.

Tokyo Tech GXI is headquartered at the Tokyo Institute of Technology Institute of Innovative Research, Laboratory for Zero-Carbon Energy and operates from Institute of Innovative Research.
Tokyo Tech GXI will provide a platform for GX (Green Transformation) research by linking approximately 400 energy research faculty members in research institutes, academies, centers, and units with approximately 50 energy-related companies inherited from the Advanced Energy Systems International Research Center (AES) of the University of Tokyo. The platform will be supported by the Research and Industry-Academia Collaboration Division, etc., and will promote and accelerate the resolution of issues.
