Research Outline

We conduct research and development related to nuclear energy as part of the green transformation. We measure nuclear data required for innovative reactor development and nuclear security research at the Pelletron accelerator at ZC Labs, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and at the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) in Tokai-mura, Ibaraki Prefecture. In particular, we are measuring neutron nuclear data of long-lived nuclides such as minor actinides contained in nuclear waste, and contributing to the development of transmutation systems to shorten the lifetime of long-lived nuclides. In the field of medical applications of radiation, we are also developing detectors for dose evaluation required for neutron-based cancer therapy (boron neutron capture therapy).
