Research Outline

Carbon-Circulating Energy System (ACRES)
An energy system that converts carbon dioxide into a resource and recycles it. The steel industry is a candidate for application (Figure 1). The use of zero-carbon energy is expected to create a carbon-neutral industry. We are developing the key carbon dioxide electricity mindissolution cell (Figure 2).

Chemical Heat Storage and Chemical Heat Pump Systems
We are developing chemical heat storage materials for the storage and effective utilization of industrial waste heat, which is discharged in large quantities but has been difficult to recover in the past (Figure 3). A calcium oxide/water chemical heat pump system using this material is being researched and developed.

Highly Efficient Hydrogen Permeable Membrane
We are developing hydrogen permeable membranes necessary for the highly efficient production of hydrogen, the next-generation energy carrier. Using a proprietary reverse build-up method, we have developed a palladium alloy membrane that is thinner than conventional spreadable membranes (Figure 4). It can be used for low-cost and high-efficiency hydrogen minseparation.
