Research Outline

We are developing zeolite catalysts for a catalytic process (methanol to olefins: MTO reaction) to synthesize basic chemicals such as ethylene, propylene, and other lower olefins from methanol, which is synthesized from water-based hydrogen and carbon dioxide. When completed, this process will lead to the realization of an innovative chemical production process that does not rely on fossil resources, mimicking part of the photosynthesis process in plants to produce basic chemicals such as raw materials for plastics from hydrogen (solar hydrogen) and carbon dioxide obtained from sunlight and water.
