Research Outline

In GX, "nuclear energy and radiation" is one of the most important fields. Among the various applications of radiation, medical applications are extremely expected by society to realize a long-lived society with high quality of life, and contribute to the harmony between nuclear energy and society. Among various DNA damages caused by radiation, DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) are the most serious and key to the effectiveness of cancer therapy. The aim of this study is to translate the results of molecular mechanism studies of DSB recognition and repair conducted in our laboratory to medical applications. Specifically, we aim to develop applications of radiosensitization by DSB repair enzyme inhibitors and prediction of radiotherapy efficacy based on DSB repair enzyme expression levels and polymorphisms.
