Research Outline

To promote the widespread use of fuel cell vehicles, we are researching damage monitoring systems for hydrogen storage vessels and design methods for hydrogen storage vessels based on the use of such systems. For example, we are developing a hydrogen storage vessel for fuel cells that can determine the presence or absence of damage by using the pressure changes that occur during hydrogen filling, thereby ensuring the same integrity as existing vessels while reducing the safety factor in design. We also aim to develop technologies that enable vessels to be used up to the end of their service life. As part of our research, we are also actively engaged in standardization activities to implement the results of our research on mechanical structural integrity evaluation in society.
