Promoting comprehensive research on carbon recycling, chemical thermal energy storage, fuel cells, steelmaking process simulation, Comprehensive Research on CCUS/CDR

To achieve carbon neutrality, the direct capture, utilization, or sequestration of CO₂ from concentrated emission sources and the atmosphere is essential. In the area of CO₂ capture and sequestration, we are conducting the following researches: the standardization of performance evaluation methods for chemical absorption processes, CO₂-absorbing ceramics, the carbonation of steel slag or magnesium extracted from seawater and its application in concrete products, and enhanced rock weathering. In addition, we are conducting research on indirect heat exchange moving-bed type thermal energy storage and transport system using zeolites, electrochemical partial oxidation using SOFCs, and process simulations encompassing the entire integrated steelworks, including the carbon recycling blast furnace.
