GXI FY2026 sitevisit“The Forefront of Akita Forest GX”

The utilization of forests is essential for Japan to achieve carbon neutrality. Science Tokyo GXI has designated fiscal year 2026 as the year to promote “Forest GX.” We have held a series of discussions on this topic, including the “GXI Seminar and Tech Meeting” on the theme of Forest GX in June of this year and the General Assembly titled “Regional Revitalization through the Implementation of Forest GX” (scheduled for September).Akita Prefecture is a model region with abundant forest potential and a leading, cutting-edge forest carbon-neutral (CN) industry. Therefore, we plan to tour forest industry processes in the Akita region to gain an understanding of their contribution to carbon neutrality, future prospects, and technical challenges, as well as to exchange views with representatives from Akita Prefecture’s government and industry sectors. We hope this field trip will serve as an opportunity to advance our discussions on the future prospects of Forest GX and the creation of new forest-based businesses.
