Title: Evolution and Future of Medical Applications of Radiation
Lecturer: Noriyosu Hayashizaki Prof. (Institute of Institute of SCIENCE TOKYO Institute of Integrated Research Laboratory for Zero-Carbon Energy
Abstract: In 1895, German physicist Roentgen discovered X-rays, and the following year, X-Ray therapy was launched in Germany, France, Denmark, and the United States. Since then, with the invention of X-ray CT, the practical application of particle beam therapy, and the emergence of high-precision X-ray therapy, radiation has become an indispensable technology in modern medicine, allowing examination and treatment without harming the patient's body. Theranostics, which combines treatment and diagnosis as a new cancer therapy using radioisotopes, is also expected to become a new technology. Let us review the evolution of medical applications of radiation and consider its future.
