Outline of the Event

Photovoltaic power generation is attracting attention as a form of renewable energy, and the amount of photovoltaic systems installed worldwide has been increasing at a rate of 20% per year for the past three years, with approximately 167.8 GW of systems installed worldwide in FY2021. China is the world's largest market, with 1/3 of the world's systems installed. Japan is the fourth largest market after the United States and India, with 6.4 GW of systems installed in FY2021. The solar cells that make up photovoltaic power generation systems are elements that convert light energy into electrical energy, and a conversion efficiency of 26.81% has been achieved for Si-based solar cells. In this talk, the basics of solar cells will be briefly introduced, recent research and development trends will be presented, and the development of solar cells in our laboratory will be explained.

Title: Renewable Energy and Photovoltaic Power Generation
Lecturer: Akira Yamada Prof.(Energy Course, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of Engineering)
Abstract: Photovoltaic power generation has been attracting attention as one of the renewable energy sources, and the amount of photovoltaic power generation systems installed in the world has been increasing at a rate of 20% per year for the past three years. The lecture will briefly introduce the basics of solar cells, present recent research and development trends, and describe the development of solar cells in our laboratory.
